Junior Scholars Reading Event benefits children’s reading skills

mom reading to kidsCentralia College is inviting you to attend the Junior Scholars Reading Event on May 21 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kirk library. Promoted by Team Vision: 2015 Leadership Development Program, the Junior Scholars Reading Event offers parents an opportunity to learn about the Junior Scholars program and take advantage of their “library in a bag” book check out program. Centralia College President Dr. Robert Frost will be the special guest reader!

The Junior Scholars Program was created to promote reading for the children of Centralia College students, and to involve parents in the community who are interested in attending Centralia College in the future. The free program provides parents the opportunity to check out a bag of assorted books at their child’s reading level, keep it for three weeks, and then exchange it for another bag.

A campus book drive to collect books for the program has been extended through the end of May. Donations can be dropped off in WSC, Kemp, Student Services and the library.
