Centralia College is proud to welcome new VetCorps Navigator, James Marshall to campus. Marshall served in the Army and is now leading the Veteran’s Center (room 103 of Kemp Hall).
With a team of student veterans, Marshall is available to assist veterans and their families with accessing educational benefits, navigating college life, and offering support. Marshall replaces longtime Veteran’s Center founder Rodney Saarela.
“I’m here to build off the great work Rodney has already done,” said Marshall. “By working with VetCorps, we are able to serve the veteran community and have the Veteran’s Center open much longer hours.”
During fall quarter, the Veteran’s Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in room 103 of Kemp Hall.
In June, Marshall earned his degree in Electronics, Robotics and Automation (ERA) at Centralia College. While earning his ERA degree he was able to access a program at the college that allowed him to upgrade his GED to a full high school diploma. In addition, he attended the Criminal Justice program from 2003 to 2005.
“The mission statement of VetCorps is to serve those who served us,” Marshall said. “It’s rewarding and gratifying to know we are helping other veterans successfully navigate college life.”
