Centralia College Tree Planting
The Centralia College Sustainability Committee will hold its annual tree planting from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5, at Riverside Park in Centralia.
The community is invited to participate. Tools and refreshments will be provided. Volunteers should bring their own gloves.
The Centralia College Sustainability Committee is comprised of college faculty and staff members, and students. Every year, the group selects a different location in Lewis County to plant native trees. Past locations have included Let Us Farms, the Port of Chehalis, Fort Borst Park, and China Creek.
“Our goal is to counter the carbon effects the college has on the environment by planting trees,” said Dr. Lisa Carlson, biology professor and Sustainability Committee co-chair. “It’s a great way to help our community, and it’s a lot of fun at the same time.”
