Centralia College has a wide variety of student clubs ranging from vintage cars to web development. This gives students a chance to enrich their college experience and get to know other students with similar interests, often creating lifelong friendships.
One such club, the Centralia College Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) has become known for being one of the most fun and active clubs on campus. The GSA provides support, and a social outlet for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community and their allies.
The club holds quarterly social events off campus, including going to the movies, bowling and attending the Centralia Roller Dome. They also organize and host the Pride event held on campus each year.
“We are not a political group,” explained club co-president Nellie Williams. “We just want to provide support and a way for our members to have fun. Many of us have challenging school and work loads, so it’s good to get together and de-stress.”
The GSA holds weekly meetings each Friday at 2 p.m. in the Kirk Library, room 139.
