Centralia College East and the Packwood Fire Department are teaming up to bring Wildfire Preparedness: An Introduction to Firewise Concepts for Local Communities. During this family friendly workshop participants learn mitigation techniques that they can implement to reduce potential damage from wildfires to their homes, landscapes, and neighborhoods.
The first workshop will be held on Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at Centralia College East at 701 Airport Way in Morton.
The second workshop will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Packwood Fire Department at 12953 U.S. Hwy 12 in Packwood.
“Wildfire is a natural part of the forest landscape that surrounds our homes and communities,” explained AmeriCorps Disaster Preparedness and Response Coordinator Annie Schinnell. ”The choices we make greatly influence the vulnerability of our homes to wildfire.
