Centralia College student Ashlie Oxford has been named a 2018 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Oxford, who lives in Chehalis and graduated from Napavine High School, is earning her Associate of Arts degree at Centralia College. She will start her second year next month.
The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Scholars are also encouraged to assume leadership roles by participating in Society programs and are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, and leadership potential. More than 1,200 applications were received. Only 207 scholarships were awarded.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for students at associate degree-granting colleges. There are more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300chapters in 10 nations.
