Centralia College’s International Program is looking for local families to host international students while they study at CC.
Hosting an international student is a great way to bring travel into your life without leaving home,” explained Denise Costello, CC’s assistant director of International Education. “Students from around the world come to Centralia College to obtain their associate’s degrees before transferring to a U.S. university. The students stay anywhere from one quarter to two years.”
International students at Centralia College are 17 years of age or older, polite, and interested in American culture. They have basic to advanced English language skills. Hosts with children will find the experience especially valuable since the international students are friendly and want to practice English with young Americans.
Each host family is asked to provide a private, furnished bedroom, food, WIFI, and a safe, supportive environment. Hosts are encouraged to include international students in mealtimes and family activities. Each student pays the host family a monthly stipend directly, to offset the expense of adding another person into the household. Centralia College’s International Education staff provide support to both students and host families.
