The next Rising Tide Science Seminar is How to Solve Crime with CHEMISTRY and Other Reasons College is Awesome presented by Emily Sprafka Coleman at noon Friday, Nov. 30, in the Walton Science Center room 121.
Emily Sprafka Coleman, or Spraf, earned a bachelor’s degree at Hamline University and a master’s at the University of Washington. She has worked in industry as well as academia, but firmly has her professor hat on at this point.
Even though chemistry is her main area of interest, she has dabbled in courses ranging from South Eastern Asian Religion to Spanish Film to Forensic Science.
Forensic Science is one field that is continuously growing. There is a high demand for well-trained scientific minds in the world of criminal justice. Emily will present a new class to be offered next year, which will utilize chemistry to solve crimes. Come learn about the dreaded “CSI Effect” and the Innocence Project, and learn a little more about Spraf herself.
