Centralia College is hosting a Rising Tide Science Seminar titled “Shaking the Tree: Using Molecular Methods to Examine Bat Evolution” presented by Dr. Jim Hutcheon on Friday, Feb. 15, at noon in WSC 121.
Jim Hutcheon is an adjunct professor at Centralia College. Jim’s fascination with bats and the tropics began with a short-term fellowship in Panama. This was followed by field work in Madagascar as part of his graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned his Ph.D. Jim has used molecular systematic methods to study the evolution of bats and will present research summarizing some of the surprising findings and controversies in the field of bat evolution.
